De BRICS bank is een belangrijke stap richting de-dollarisatie en de transitie naar een nieuwe monetair systeem. Deze moet het door het Westen gedomineerde ‘casino geldsysteem’ vervangen dat heeft bijgedragen aan wereldoorlogen en ‘economisch terrorisme’. Dit zei Peter Koenig, voormalig econoom van de Wereldbank, onlangs in een interview dat gepubliceerd werd op Globalresearch.
“Een BRICS systeem biedt een gezond alternatief voor het zwaar in de schulden gestoken en niet meer functionerende dollarsysteem, waar geld naar behoefte bijgedrukt kan worden”, zo analyseert Koenig. In het interview pleit hij voor de oprichting van een nieuwe valuta voor de BRICS-landen, die hij de Bricso noemt.
“Het is de hoogste tijd dat de munt die staat voor wereldwijde diefstal, misbruik en exploitatie – de Amerikaanse dollar – en die als instrument gebruikt wordt voor eindeloze oorlogsvoering en economisch terrorisme, vervangen wordt door een valuta met een vreedzaam fundament dat de nationale soevereiniteit van landen respecteert”, aldus de voormalig Wereldbank econoom. Hij voegde eraan toe dat de zes grootste Amerikaanse banken op dit moment meer dan 60% van alle bankactiva bezitten.
De-dollarisatie
Een nieuw monetair systeem moet volgens Koenig het bestaande Fed-BIS-Wall Street complex (Koenig spreekt van een ‘dollar denominated predatory casino scheme’) vervangen, het systeem dat de afgelopen honderd jaar in grote mate heeft bijgedragen, en geprofiteerd heeft van, twee Wereldoorlogen en dat onze planeet in sociaal en milieutechnisch opzicht heeft verarmd.
“Dit systeem staat aan de vooravond van een grotere ramp dan de Depressie van de jaren dertig”, zo voegde hij eraan toe.
De BRICS-landen, die de laatste jaren actief bezig zijn met een proces van de-dollarisatie, kunnen volgens Koenig een levensvatbaar alternatief worden voor het Westerse economische systeem, zo stelt Koenig. Volgens hem is dit proces nu al gaande, de toenemende samenwerking tussen Rusland en China is daar volgens hem een goed voorbeeld van. Deze twee landen zijn in juni al begonnen met yuan-roebel swaps om zich te bevrijden van de traditionele handelsmunt, de Amerikaanse dollar.
Tien jaar geleden werd 90% van alle wereldwijde reserves nog uitgedrukt in dollars, vandaag de dag is dat nog maar 60%, zo merkte Koenig op. Het marktaandeel van de dollar slinkt al jaren en opkomende markten proberen met valutaswaps steeds meer onderlinge handel in hun eigen valuta af te wikkelen.
Monopolie van de dollar onder druk
Volgens de voormalig Wereldbank econoom is Washington bang om de monopoliepositie van haar dollar op het wereldwijde toneel te verliezen. Daarom probeert de VS de situatie in de BRICS-landen te destabiliseren. Bijvoorbeeld door de regering van Brazilië te beschuldigen van corruptie en door de Russische roebel met sancties en manipulatie onderuit te halen.
“Vandaag de dag wordt de meeste handel nog afgerekend in dollars, via Amerikaanse banken en het clearing systeem van de BIS. Onder dit stelsel van de Federal Reserve, de BIS en Wall Street worden goud en andere valuta onderworpen aan wisselkoers en rentemanipulaties”, aldus Koenig.
Het potentieel van de BRICS-landen is zeer groot, want de vijf leden vertegenwoordigen bijna 30% van het wereldwijde bbp en zelfs 45% van de wereldwijde bevolking. Ter vergelijking, de Verenigde Staten vertegenwoordigt met ruim 320 miljoen inwoners slechts 5% van de wereldbevolking.
